Coming to Pahang this June, you should never miss out the highlight event of Fraser’s Hill International Bird Race among best place to visit in Pahang. This bird-watching competition requires bird watchers to race against the time and to spot as many bird species as possible.

Every year, the Fraser’s Hill is organized in the main Fraser’s Hill Clock Tower area where birders come together before starting the race.

Participants are divided into team of three to take part in two-day race. They will then travel on foot to spot as many birds as they can within the given time.

This longing event will be held from 21-23 June 2019. Fraser’s Hill International Bird Race aims at preserving nature and promoting Fraser’s Hill as a bird sanctuary.

3. Activities in Fraser’s Hill International Bird Race:

Some of the activities listed below require pre-registration to participate, therefore you should check the ones you want to join beforehand:

Bird Race: This is the main event which requires teams of three and you need to register in advance. The race starts at 1:00 PM on 22nd June and ends at 12:00 PM the next day.

Bird Photography Contest: This event is open for everyone. You can register at the event. There are three main categories in the event including Advanced Category (for serious and experienced bird watchers), Novice Category (for those who have just taken up bird watching as a new hobby) and Local Category (for local residents).

Bird Talk: This section is conducted in the evening when bird experts are invited to share about various bird topics.

Conservation Talks: This section is to share about nature-related topics.

Exhibition: This one is organized for bird photography.

Bazaar Vendors: Around 15-20 vendors will promote and sell bird-watching equipment.

Guided Tours: This is free guided tour service with the motto of first come first served in which you need to sign up at the main tent.

From Kuala Lumpur to Fraser’s Hill:

The distance from Kuala Lumpur to Fraser’s Hill is about 100 km and it takes you around 3 hours by car. You can still make a one-day trip from KL to Fraser’s Hill. It is suggested that you depart early in the morning and will return to KL in the evening.

The cheapest way to get from KL to Pahang is to bus which costs about US$ 6-10 and can take up to 5 hours.

The fastest way is to take a taxi which costs US$ 95-120 and can take about 3 hours.
